NOLLYWOOD actress, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry, is one of the top Yoruba actresses currently leading in her career as well as an entrepreneur.
The Benin City, Edo State-born actress, who has become a household name in Nollywood, especially in the Yoruba sector of the film industry, started her sojourn into the make-believe world in 2006 when she featured in the movie, Ara, produced by Ibadan-based producer, Wemimo Olu Paul.
The movie later catapulted her into limelight. Since then, she’s wormed her way into the hearts of millions of her teeming fans with her dedication, patience, work ethics and incredible acting skills. Her amazing personality, impeccable fashion taste with reports from many magazines and national papers has also earned her a top spot amongst the most stylish celebrities in Nigeria.
Noting that some of her colleagues have ventured into different businesses, to run alongside their acting career, the actress who owns Mag Divas, a collective boutique that deals in unisex wears, over the years have been able to maintain the standard which she started off the business with; courtesy of her fashion sense, which she has been using to promote her products on social platforms.
According to information gathered, the actress has carved a niche for herself by bringing all she needs on set of any movie she is featured; from wigs, to shoes, wears, bags and make-up kit.
Also regarded as one of the most stylish actresses in the Yoruba sector, which has gotten her awards, over the years, she has been able to maintain her commitment to be one of the top actresses in the entertainment world.
Not too busy for her kids many times, the actress never seize to keep her fans updated on her time with her kids; especially on their special days like birthdays and events at school. Recently, she was reported to have revealed that, the reason she also wears short wears to prevent her husband from looking out. This is because it is believed that these are one of the things that attract the men.
Aigbe is married to Larry Gents, a hotelier. After the successful release of her popular movie Osas Omoge Benin, Aigbe recently released her new movie titled, Victims, a gripping tale of trauma, vengeance and love.
The movie directed by Lancelot Imasuen, featured Seun Akindele, Fathia Balogun, Juliet Ibrahim, Olu Jacobs, Saheed Balogun, Funsho Adeolu and others.
Aside having a unisex boutique in Omole, she also expanded her brand when she was recently unveiled as the brand ambassador of ICT Company, Edalaf Brothers; which sees her launched her mobile app and website.
The mother of two also runs a drama school; which has seen many sets of graduates since its invention in the year 2016.
Born January 1,1979, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry attended The polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo state, where she obtained National Diploma in Financial studies. She later left for University of Lagos where she graduated with a degree in Creative Arts. The thespian has many awards to her credit some of which includes; City People Awards – Best Actress Yoruba 2009, Afro Hollywood Awards UK- Best Actress Of The Year 2013, Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) – Best Indigenous Movie 2014, among others.
