Former finalist Kei Nishikori of Japan shocked second-seeded Andy Murray in five sets on Wednesday to reach the semi-finals of the US Open.
Sixth-seeded Nishikori prevailed 1-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 and will face either unseeded former champion Juan Martin del Potro or third-seeded Swiss Stan Wawrinka for a place in Sunday’s championship match.
